The Char Dham Yatra has been suspended from Saturday afternoon till Sunday in view of crimson and orange rain alerts issued by the Meteorological Division for a number of districts of Uttarakhand, officers stated.
Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swaroop issued a letter to all district magistrates, directing them to take essential motion of their respective districts.
The order stated the pilgrimage was being suspended in view of the climate forecast and to make sure the security of pilgrims travelling from throughout India and overseas. The Yatra will resume as soon as climate circumstances enhance, the order stated.
Pink Alert In 5 Uttarakhand Districts On Saturday
For Saturday, the Meteorological Division has issued a crimson alert for heavy rain in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar, PTI reported.
An orange alert has been issued for Dehradun, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Almora, whereas Haridwar, Uttarkashi and Tehri are underneath a yellow alert.
As a precautionary measure, colleges as much as Class 12 have been closed in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Nainital and Rudraprayag.
4 Districts Below Pink Alert On Sunday
