Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday paid tribute to the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy, saying their sacrifices had strengthened Pakistan’s democratic foundations.
In a press release marking the anniversary of the October 18, 2007, assault, the chief minister described the bombing focusing on supporters of the Pakistan Peoples Get together (PPP) who had gathered to welcome former prime minister Benazir Bhutto again to Pakistan as a cowardly act of terrorism.
Round 180 PPP employees had been martyred when two explosions struck close to Benazir Bhutto’s rallying truck in Karachi as she returned to the nation after eight years in self-imposed exile.
Murad Ali Shah stated the martyrs had written a brand new chapter of braveness and sacrifice within the battle for democracy. Regardless of the lethal blasts, PPP supporters risked their lives to guard their chief, he added.
He stated the sacrifices of the martyrs wouldn’t go in useless and reaffirmed the PPP’s dedication to persevering with its democratic battle.
The chief minister stated President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had been carrying ahead the democratic mission initiated by the social gathering’s martyrs.
He added that the ache of the Karsaz tragedy remained contemporary within the hearts of Pakistanis and that October 18 served as a reminder of the sacrifices made for democracy.
