Present-cause notices have been issued to Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and Particular Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Huzaifa Rehman for allegedly violating the code of conduct below the Election Act 2017, Punjab Election Commissioner Sharifullah stated on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the provincial election commissioner stated that the federal minister and the SAPM have been directed to submit their explanations by November 21 (at the moment).

“No minister or advisor is allowed to run an election marketing campaign,” the spokesperson stated, warning that swift motion might be taken towards any code violations to make sure free, truthful, and neutral elections.

By-elections in six nationwide and 7 provincial meeting seats in Punjab are scheduled for November 23.

In accordance with the Dera Ghazi Khan district monitoring officer, Leghari reportedly participated within the election marketing campaign of PML-N candidate Mahmood Leghari within the NA-185 constituency.

The monitoring officer stated that, by collaborating within the marketing campaign as a federal minister, Leghari breached official directions. The minister has been requested to look earlier than the authorities and make clear his place concerning the alleged ECP violations.

The monitoring officer additional stated that SAPM Rehman has been violating the election code of conduct. The officer stated that the SAPM intends to take part within the election marketing campaign of the PML-N candidate.

In the meantime, Faisalabad’s district monitoring officer wrote to the election fee, alleging that State Minister for Inside Talal Chaudhry had been repeatedly violating the election code of conduct.
