BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 1. Building
actions for the Sangachal Terminal Electrification (STEL)
venture are progressing safely and on schedule, bp, operator of the
Sangachal terminal, stated, Pattern experiences.

The traders within the terminal are bp, SOCAR, TPAO, LUKOIL, SGC,
NICO, MOL, INPEX, ExxonMobil, ITOCHU, ONGC Videsh, Eni, MVM, and
TotalEnergies.

Thus far, the venture has awarded three main contracts to make sure
the terminal is totally electrified by the tip of 2028:

Engineering, Procurement and Building (EPC)
contract.
Valued at roughly $43 million, this
contract has been awarded to AzerEnerji OJSC. The scope consists of
three key exercise areas: building of a brand new substation,
set up of underground cables and erection of overhead energy
strains. As a part of this contract civil works are nearing completion
throughout all fronts, with gear set up and cable-pulling
actions set to start because the venture transitions into its subsequent
supply part.

Building and fabrication contract. This $19
million contract has been awarded to Azfen MMC for main electrical
infrastructure works inside the Sangachal terminal, together with
set up of transformers, synchronous condensers, present
limiting reactors, and a brand new 110kV switchyard. As a part of the
contract building actions inside the Sangachal terminal
commenced in August 2025 and are advancing throughout a number of work
fronts, together with foundations for key gear installations.

Engineering and procurement contract. As
earlier introduced, this can be a £7 million contract that has been
awarded to SOCAR KBR to execute the Sangachal terminal engineering
and procurement scope. Beneath this settlement, SOCAR KBR will present
detailed design, gear provide, and procurement administration
providers. The scope additionally consists of help for building,
commissioning, and operations readiness planning. As a part of this
contract, venture actions are in progress, with present efforts
centered on detailed engineering and gear expediting.

Matt Kirkham, bp vice chairman, initiatives, for the Azerbaijan,
Georgia and Türkiye area, Center East and Africa, stated: “We’re
happy with the progress throughout all STEL venture actions. With
work scopes advancing consistent with the plan, the groups stay
dedicated to delivering high-quality outcomes and supporting the
secure and environment friendly growth of the venture. It is a complicated,
multi-year effort requiring shut coordination throughout a number of
contractors and disciplines, and I’m happy with the professionalism
and dedication proven by everybody concerned. As we transfer into the subsequent
phases, our focus stays on security, prime quality and powerful
execution that can ship a resilient energy infrastructure that
will help the terminal’s long-term operational excellence.”

The STEL venture is developed and managed by bp as operator of
the Sangachal terminal.

The completion of the venture is anticipated in two phases – Stage
1 in mid-2027, and Stage 2 by the tip of 2028.

The venture is linked to the Shafag (Jabrayil) photo voltaic venture,
which consists of building of a brand new 240MW AC photo voltaic plant within the
Jabrayil district of Azerbaijan through a brand new business construction
referred to as ‘digital energy switch association’, which can allow the
terminal to connect with the nationwide grid, operated by AzerEnerji,
through new services to be constructed each inside and outdoors the
terminal, together with a brand new 220/110 kV electrical energy substation.

Collectively, the Shafag and STEL initiatives are anticipated to help
the discount of operational emissions by round 50% over the
future lifetime of the Sangachal terminal, based mostly on the present outlook
and plans.

Following the electrification of the terminal, the seven fuel
generators presently used on the terminal to generate energy, can be
eliminated in phases, releasing up the gasoline fuel for export.
