Prince Faisal Discusses Yemen Crisis With US Secretary Rubio, Pakistani FM Dar

Saudi International Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan engaged in key diplomatic outreach on Tuesday amid escalating regional strains, significantly in Yemen. He held a cellphone dialog with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the place either side addressed ongoing tensions in Yemen—sparked by a latest Saudi-led coalition airstrike on UAE-linked ships at Mukalla port—and broader efforts to bolster regional safety and stability, based on a US State Division assertion.

The dialogue highlighted mutual issues over Yemen’s fragile dynamics, together with clashes involving the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) that captured jap provinces like Hadramaut earlier this month, heightening Gulf rivalries between Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Individually, Prince Faisal acquired a name from Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and International Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar. The 2 exchanged assessments of the newest regional and worldwide developments, with Dar expressing satisfaction over strengthening bilateral ties, whereas Faisal reaffirmed Saudi dedication to deeper cooperation.

The talks occurred in opposition to a backdrop of Saudi calls for for UAE forces to exit Yemen inside 24 hours following the port strike, which Riyadh framed as having focused arms shipments with no casualties sustained.

Conversations spotlight Riyadh’s lively diplomacy to navigate Yemen’s volatility, Gulf frictions, and broader instability, signaling coordinated efforts to de-escalate and pursue political options such because the Riyadh Settlement. No main breakthroughs have been introduced, however the exchanges mirror heightened consultations amongst allies as 2025 closes with persistent safety challenges.
