03 officers of the Nationwide Institute of Schooling (NIE) have reportedly been summoned to the Legal Investigation Division (CID) yesterday (Jan. 05) to be questioned over the inclusion of a controversial web site within the Grade 6 English syllabus module.
Amongst these questioned is the official stated to be straight answerable for together with the disputed web site into the module.
Secretary to the Schooling Ministry – Nalaka Kaluwewa had lodged a grievance with the CID on this regard and stated that the CID had launched a probe.
In the meantime, the NIE has submitted an in depth report on the matter to the Ministry Secretary yesterday.
The report was ready by a three-member committee appointed inside the NIE.
Notably, the committee was appointed by Prof. Manjula Vithanapathirana, who had quickly stepped down from the put up of Director Common, following directions to submit an inside report on the incident.
In line with sources, the report outlines the procedures by way of which the controversial web site was included, together with particulars of the officers concerned within the course of.
In the meantime, Extra Secretary to the Ministry of Larger Schooling – Chandima Janaki, has been appointed to cowl the duties of the Director Common of the NIE.
