The Sri Lanka Navy said that 204 people from the Iranian vessel IRINS Bushehr have been taken to the Welisara Naval Base.

Navy Media Spokesperson Commander Buddhika Sampath stated that after they have been delivered to the Port of Colombo, they have been subsequently transported to the Welisara Naval Base.

The Navy media spokesperson additional said that the crew of the vessel stay on board the ship.

He added that preparations are presently being made to carry them to the Port of Colombo and switch them to the Welisara Naval Base.

He additionally famous {that a} Sri Lanka Navy crew is scheduled to take the vessel to the Port of Trincomalee at the moment.

The IRINS Bushehr had requested permission to enter Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, talking at a particular media briefing held on the Presidential Secretariat final night time (05), said that the choice to permit them to enter the nation was taken on humanitarian grounds.

The Sri Lanka Navy has safely evacuated a complete of 204 crew members from the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Bushehr close to Sri Lanka’s territorial waters and introduced them to the Port of Colombo, based on the Navy Spokesman.

Making a particular assertion on the matter, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated yesterday (March 05) that steps can be taken to escort the Iranian vessel to Trincomalee Harbour.
