Powdered milk importers in Sri Lanka have agreed to scale back the value of milk powder packets beginning January 16, 2026, the Minister of Commerce, Commerce, Meals Safety and Cooperative Growth, Wasantha Samarasinghe, introduced.
Following discussions with importers, the value of a 400g pack of milk powder in Sri Lanka might be lowered by Rs. 50, whereas a 1kg pack might be cheaper by Rs. 125. The choice goals to move on the advantages to shoppers, reflecting the latest lower in world milk powder costs.
The ministry additionally said that milk powder costs in Sri Lanka are anticipated to be lowered once more in April 2026.
