The Telangana Excessive Courtroom on Wednesday directed the Centre to permit college students of two faculties—one from Karnataka and the opposite from Andhra Pradesh—to take part within the Nationwide Faculty Band Competitors, to be held in New Delhi as a part of Republic Day celebrations.

A single-judge bench of Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka dominated in favour of groups from PS Shiva Shankarappa EM Residential Faculty at Davanagere in Karnataka and Montessori Indus Residential Faculty at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, which moved the courtroom after the Union Ministry of Training put aside a choice that had made them eligible to take part within the national-level competitors.

Advocate Naman Mankadari, showing for the faculties, argued that cancelling the beforehand introduced outcomes of state-level competitions and declaring a recent consequence—with out offering any causes, prior discover, or a chance for a listening to—was arbitrary, unlawful, and violative of Articles 14 and 21 of the Structure.

The outcomes have been introduced on December 12, 2025, and the ministry cancelled them on January 12, 2026.
Disposing of the faculties’ petitions, the courtroom emphasised that a chance to take part in Republic Day celebrations, and even to aspire to take part, leaves a long-lasting impression on younger minds, strengthening their patriotic spirit.

“Courts and establishments alike should subsequently be delicate to the keenness and tender feelings of kids, and search to encourage, quite than discourage, their involvement in such nationwide celebrations, in order that the spirit of Republic Day stays inclusive, uplifting, and galvanizing for all,” the courtroom stated.

The courtroom thus stated it was not inclined to go any hostile orders towards the scholars, “who’re the kids of our nation”, as doing so would trigger irreparable prejudice to younger college students, including that the difficulty required a realistic and equitable method.

“Curiosity of justice could be served by permitting the college groups to take part within the Nationwide Faculty Band Competitors,” the courtroom stated.

The schooling ministry’s Division of Faculty Training and Literacy is conducting the competitors in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence. Colleges are divided into zones, with the southern zone comprising faculties from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Island, and Lakshadweep.
