As a part of the Nationwide Training Coverage (NEP) 2020, college students at Dr Shakuntala Misra Nationwide Rehabilitation College (DSMNRU) will now study various abilities alongside their major disciplines, making them employment-ready. The college authorities have drafted plans to launch credit-based programs—talent enhancement programs, worth added programs, skill enhancement programs and multi-disciplinary programs—for college kids enrolling in undergraduate programmes.

Spokesperson Prof Yashwant Virodai stated the curriculum has been designed to equip college students with the data and abilities obligatory for employment.

“A 3-credit talent enhancement course is structured so that every one undergraduate college students will purchase new abilities over the primary three semesters,” Virodai defined. “Of their first semester, they’ll examine entrepreneurship improvement mandatorily. Within the second semester, they will select between photo voltaic photovoltaic strategies and set up, and laptop software. College students deciding on photo voltaic photovoltaic strategies and set up will proceed the topic within the third semester, whereas these choosing laptop software will examine ayurveda and forest drugs,” he additional defined.

College students may also be required to finish a obligatory 6-8 week internship each semester throughout the summer season break. “They will full the internship in their very own self-discipline or within the talent they’ve chosen, for instance, in start-ups, photo voltaic panel set up firms, or AYUSH-approved pharmaceutical firms,” Virodai added.

Moreover, college students should mandatorily examine a 3-credit worth added course within the first and second semesters. “Environmental training is necessary for all college students within the first semester, whereas within the second semester, they are going to be required to review programs primarily based on the Indian data system inside their respective disciplines,” he stated.

As a part of the flexibility enhancement programs, college students may also be required to review a minimum of one language. “College students will select from English, Hindi and Sanskrit for the primary and second semesters. They are going to choose one other one of many three languages within the third and fourth semesters,” Virodai said. “If a pupil already possesses considered one of these languages, they’ll select from the opposite two. The flexibility enhancement course will assist them earn 2 credit.”

Moreover, a 3-credit multi-disciplinary course might be necessary for college kids within the first, second and third semesters. “As a part of the multi-disciplinary course, college students will examine one topic from a distinct self-discipline,” stated Virodai.

These programs are scheduled for implementation as soon as authorised by the college’s tutorial council, which is tentatively scheduled to fulfill subsequent week.
