Japan’s tourism increase — not too long ago hauling in an unimaginable 42.7 million guests in 2025 — shouldn’t be hitting all areas equally.

Whereas over 50% of overseas vacationers go to Tokyo and almost 40% see Osaka, solely 2.9% go to Nagano Prefecture, residence of the Japanese Alps. Simply 1.2% go to Miyagi, the financial and cultural heart of the northeast Tohoku area, and a mere 0.5% enterprise deeper into prefectures like Yamagata and Fukushima.

The irony of this pattern is that the areas receiving the least quantity of worldwide guests are those who may use the best financial enhance from vacationer pocketbooks.
