Lao International Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane held 5 bilateral conferences on the twenty fifth ASEAN-EU Ministerial Assembly in Brunei from 27 to twenty-eight April. The talks aimed to deepen ties with European companions forward of Laos’ commencement from Least Developed Nation (LDC) standing by 2029.

In talks with Cyprus, each side reviewed their relationship since 2000 and recognized new alternatives for engagement. Laos briefed Cyprus on its nationwide improvement priorities and LDC transition plans.

Rounding out the day, Laos and Slovakia reaffirmed pleasant ties and agreed to broaden cooperation in commerce, funding, training, and improvement help, strengthening Laos’ broader engagement with Central European companions, the fifth and remaining assembly of the day.

Throughout all 5 conferences, Laos constantly framed its LDC commencement as a possibility to draw European improvement assist and construct new financial partnerships forward of 2029.
