SHAH ALAM, June 10 — The Selangor govt at the moment launched the Selangor Individuals with Disabilities Coverage and Motion Plan 2026-2030 to strengthen inclusion and help the holistic improvement of the state’s roughly 150,000 registered individuals with disabilities (PWDs).

State Girls Improvement and Social Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari mentioned the great coverage marked a major shift from a passive welfare-based strategy in the direction of one centred on rights, lively participation and empowerment.

“This proactive step is meant to make sure that the PWD neighborhood is recognised as an equal strategic companion within the state’s improvement.

“The coverage was formulated based mostly on area research involving PWDs, caregivers, non-governmental organisations, authorities companies and teachers,” she advised reporters after launching the coverage at Universiti Teknologi MARA’s Dewan Tuanku Canselor right here.

Anfaal mentioned the coverage was designed to bridge the hole between policymaking and implementation by a structured framework guided by 5 key pillars: high quality of life and social fairness, training and lifelong studying, productiveness and financial improvement, accessibility and common design (UD), in addition to governance and advocacy.

She mentioned the coverage, which is guided by the ideas of maqasid syariah, additionally seeks to enhance entry to healthcare companies, early intervention programmes, psychological well being help for PWDs and caregivers, financial participation, and inclusive worship services.

She mentioned the state govt would additionally decide necessary UD necessities to be integrated into improvement planning and complied with by builders.

Anfaal mentioned the state govt was dedicated to making sure clear implementation, monitoring and analysis of the coverage, with authorities companies and stakeholders anticipated to play accountable roles.

As a follow-up measure, she mentioned the Selangor Incapacity Motion Council (MTOS) had begun advocacy and consciousness workshops with native authority planners and engineers to enhance compliance with current pointers.

Earlier, Anfaal, accompanied by MTOS chairman and Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron, introduced RM90,000 in grants to a few recipients underneath the Selangor Inclusive Innovation Programme (SIIP).

She additionally introduced awards to PWD college students who excelled within the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, 2025 bachelor’s diploma graduates and contributors of the current World IT Problem (GITC) in South Korea. — Bernama
