MANILA, Philippines — The just about eight million packs of Illicit cigarettes that have been seized from 10 40-foot container vans in Cebu Metropolis on Wednesday have a complete estimated tax legal responsibility of P343.12 million, in response to a press release launched on Thursday by the Bureau of Inside Income, whose Central Visayas workplace led the simultaneous operations.

Seven of the vans have been seized from Villa Del Rio 1, with an estimated stock of three,240,000 packs of cigarettes, whereas three have been intercepted on the Carlos A. Gothong Yard containing roughly 1,482,000 packs.

The whole estimated stock reached 4,722,000 packs of suspected illicit cigarettes with an estimated primary excise tax legal responsibility of P343,117,580.

“This profitable joint operation underscores the federal government’s unwavering dedication to defending official companies, safeguarding authorities revenues, and holding accountable these engaged within the illicit cigarette commerce. We’ll proceed working intently with our associate companies to make sure that tax evaders and smugglers face the total drive of the regulation,” mentioned BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza.
