Sri Lanka reviews progress on returning security forces-used lands in Jaffna

A progress overview assembly on ongoing efforts associated to state-owned and privately owned lands presently utilized by the safety forces within the Jaffna and Palaly areas was held on the Parliament Advanced on June 24, 2026.

The assembly was collectively chaired by Deputy Minister of Defence Main Common Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation and Minister of Power Anura Karunathilaka, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Sources Ramalingam Chandrasekar, and Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku.

The dialogue reviewed the progress of ongoing initiatives and explored methods to hurry up authorities efforts to deal with land possession points, help socio-economic improvement, and enhance infrastructure improvement by means of coordination with regional administrative authorities. The initiatives are a part of the federal government’s efforts to help nationwide reconciliation and group resettlement within the area.

Particular consideration was given to finalizing boundary realignments, dashing up compensation procedures, and prioritizing recognized land plots for future launch.

Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara shared observations from his current subject go to to a number of key areas throughout the Jaffna Peninsula final month, which targeted primarily on lands presently utilized by the safety forces.

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), the Commanders of the Sri Lanka Military and Sri Lanka Air Pressure, the Jaffna District Secretary, senior officers of the Ministry of Defence, senior Military and Air Pressure officers, and representatives of related state establishments additionally attended the assembly.
