Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed from Islamabad on Friday for a one-day go to to Iran to attend the funeral of the nation’s late Supreme Chief, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The prime minister is main a high-level delegation comprising Nationwide Meeting Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Overseas Minister Ishaq Dar, Data Minister Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan Peoples Get together Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and others.

Khamenei was martyred on February 28 this 12 months, the primary day of Israeli and US strikes on Iran. His funeral started in Tehran on Friday, with burial scheduled for July 9 in his hometown of Mashhad, based on Iranian state media.

Throughout his go to to Tehran, Shehbaz will take part within the funeral rites of Ali Khamenei, the Prime Minister’s Workplace mentioned.

“On behalf of the Pakistani folks and authorities, the Prime Minister will categorical heartfelt condolences to the Iranian management and the bereaved households and reaffirm Pakistan’s full solidarity with the brotherly Iranian nation on this hour of grief,” it added.

Following the funeral ceremony, the prime minister will journey to Istanbul for a bilateral go to to Turkiye.
