Houthi Missiles Target Saudi Airport, Air Bases as 4-Year Truce Collapses

Yemen’s Houthis launched a barrage of ballistic missiles towards Abha Worldwide Airport and two navy bases in Saudi Arabia after an assault on the runway at Sanaa Worldwide Airport that Yemen’s internationally acknowledged authorities stated was geared toward stopping an Iranian plane from touchdown.

The Saudi-led navy coalition in Yemen stated air defenses stopped the missiles earlier than they reached targets within the kingdom’s south.

A coalition spokesperson stated on X that the intercepted weapons had been “launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards the southern area.”

The assaults introduced an finish to 4 years of truce between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-aligned Houthis and renewed direct hostilities between the 2 sides.

The Houthis blamed Saudi Arabia for the motion at Sanaa airport, alleging that the dominion had launched a number of airstrikes towards the ability. Yemen’s internationally acknowledged authorities, which is supported by Saudi Arabia, gave a distinct account, saying its forces struck the runway to dam the arrival of an plane from Iran.

“In an unjust aggression, the Saudi enemy carried out a number of airstrikes towards Sanaa Worldwide Airport,” Houthi navy spokesman Yahya Saree stated shortly after studies of the assault surfaced.

Saree stated the deescalation interval was over and pledged that the Houthis would reply instantly.

The group then directed ballistic missiles at Abha Worldwide Airport and the 2 Saudi air bases. Saudi air defenses intercepted the missiles concentrating on the nation’s southern area, the coalition stated.

The Houthis described the missile barrage as retaliation for the assault at Sanaa Worldwide Airport.

Saudi Arabia helps Yemen’s internationally acknowledged authorities in its battle with the Houthis, who’re aligned with Iran.
