A Rangers personnel was martyred, and one other sustained accidents when armed males opened hearth on regulation enforcement personnel throughout a street clearance operation from Sarsawa to Tararkhel, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) police spokesperson mentioned on Wednesday.

In response to the spokesperson, Rangers personnel got here underneath hearth whereas finishing up the operation to take away blockades and restore routes of transportation.

Rangers personnel Shahnawaz was martyred after sustaining a bullet wound to the chest, whereas Lance Naik Bilal was injured after being shot within the shoulder.

The spokesperson mentioned Shahnawaz belonged to Khairpur, Sindh.

An identical assault came about final month, when a Rangers personnel was martyred and one other injured after armed members of the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Motion Committee (JAAC) attacked safety forces responding to stories of indiscriminate firing close to the Matial Maira bus terminal in Rawalakot, in accordance with safety sources.

The clearance operation is continuous to take away blockades at numerous areas and restore visitors routes. Regardless of the firing on regulation enforcement personnel, authorities are persevering with the operation.

The AJK police spokesperson mentioned the operation would proceed till all obstacles have been eliminated and transportation routes have been absolutely restored.

The AJK authorities on June 5 declared JAAC a proscribed organisation underneath the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), saying the group was engaged in terrorism.

The ban was imposed days forward of the banned outfit’s deliberate protest in search of the abolition of 12 seats within the AJK reserved for refugees from Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) who migrated to Pakistan after 1947.
