Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed authorities to speed up the implementation of rightsizing measures aimed toward bettering authorities efficiency and effectivity, saying fashionable expertise and higher coaching have been wanted to boost the effectiveness of public establishments.

Based on the assertion issued by the Prime Minister’s Workplace (PMO), chairing a evaluate assembly on the federal government’s rightsizing initiative, the prime minister mentioned, “The efficiency of presidency establishments needs to be considerably improved by way of fashionable expertise and higher coaching.”

He mentioned eliminating pointless vacancies and redundant posts remained “an essential a part of the federal government’s reform agenda,” including that the target was to construct a leaner, extra environment friendly public sector.

The assertion additional added that the prime minister famous that beneath the rightsizing programme, the federal government had already shut down the Utility Shops Company, the Pakistan Public Works Division (Pak PWD) and the Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Providers Company (PASSCO). 

“The closure of those organisations beneath the rightsizing measures is leading to financial savings for the nationwide exchequer,” he mentioned. 

“PM Shehbaz directed authorities to conduct a third-party audit of the establishments and posts abolished beneath the programme to independently assess the effectiveness and transparency of the reforms,” it mentioned.

He additionally instructed the Rightsizing Committee to finish its remaining suggestions inside one month and ordered officers to expedite implementation of all pending measures aimed toward bettering the federal government’s efficiency. 

Based on the PMO, in the course of the assembly, officers briefed the prime minister on progress made beneath the initiative, informing him that the reforms had lowered the ratio of the civil authorities’s expenditure to gross home product (GDP).

The assembly was attended by Federal Ministers Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb and Dr Musadik Masood Malik, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani and senior officers from related ministries and departments.
