The 650-metre-long Dalmandi street in Varanasi is about for a makeover, with the groundbreaking ceremony for its widening held on Sunday. Varanasi South MLA Neelkanth Tiwari carried out the bhoomi pujan, following which building work started on the venture geared toward easing site visitors congestion and bettering entry to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

The street, presently 5.6 metres large, will probably be widened to 17.5 metres below the venture, which officers mentioned is focused for completion by November 2026. The venture has been allotted round ₹216 crore.

The Public Works Division (PWD) will assemble the street, which may have footpaths, underground sewer strains, ingesting water and drainage techniques, together with Wi-Fi services. The venture can even take away overhead wires and scale back the necessity for future street digging for utility work.

Officers mentioned greenery and different facilities will probably be developed alongside either side of the street. As soon as accomplished, the widened street is anticipated to ease site visitors congestion at Godaulia intersection and supply smoother entry to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Dashashwamedh, Atul Anjan Tripathi mentioned tight safety preparations had been made throughout the demolition of buildings and the bhoomi pujan ceremony.

The Dalmandi widening venture was accepted by the state cupboard on July 22, 2025, and is taken into account a key venture of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
