Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) launched the export of 8.2 metric tons of Muntok White Pepper from the Bangka Belitung Islands Province to the Netherlands on Saturday.

“White pepper holds immense potential and provides nice alternatives to be additional developed as a flagship export-oriented commodity,” Deputy for Medium Enterprises on the Ministry of MSMEs Bagus Rachman stated in the course of the export send-off occasion in Central Bangka District, Bangka Belitung Islands, on Saturday.

He famous that the white pepper cargo, valued at Rp1.21 billion (US$67,870), could be shipped by way of Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta.

“Though the cargo is dealt with by way of Tanjung Priok Port, the uncooked white pepper originates immediately from Bangka Belitung,” he stated.

In line with Bagus, the export demonstrates the numerous potential of the area’s agricultural and plantation sectors to combine into nationwide and worldwide export provide chains.

He defined that the white pepper export was carried out by PT Cinquer Agro Nusantara (CAN), which serves because the holding operator for the pepper-farming MSME cluster within the Bangka Belitung Islands.

“PT CAN companions with 1,300 native white pepper farmers managing 1,000 hectares of land, with an annual manufacturing capability of 500 metric tons,” he stated.

He added that the export of the agricultural commodity represents a collaboration between the Ministry of MSMEs and the Indonesian Quarantine Company (Barantin) to advertise the area’s main commodities.

Barantin Appearing Deputy for Plant Quarantine Dian S.R. Kusumastuti said that her company is working to additional broaden export markets for Bangka Belitung’s white pepper whereas rising added worth for native farmers and MSMEs.

“This white pepper export demonstrates that Bangka pepper has nice potential to proceed increasing into worldwide markets. Our shared job is to make sure that its high quality, requirements, and traceability are maintained in order that market confidence in Bangka pepper grows stronger,” she stated.
