U.S. President Donald Trump insisted Tuesday that there have been no talks ongoing with Iran, leaving the simmering battle within the Center East and management of the Strait of Hormuz caught in limbo.
The memorandum of understanding that the U.S. and Iran signed in June in an effort to purchase time to barter a long-lasting peace deal — as repeatedly violated because it had been throughout that 60-day window — has expired. There aren’t any plans to increase it.
“There aren’t any talks or conversations occurring, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump posted on his social media platform.
