Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia and Bulgaria are in search of to strengthen bilateral commerce and funding ties, positioning Bulgaria as a strategic gateway for Indonesian items getting into the broader European Union market.

The dedication was reaffirmed throughout a bilateral assembly between Indonesian Commerce Minister Budi Santoso and Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic system, Funding and Trade Alexander Poulev in Jakarta on Monday.

Highlighting the 70-year anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Bulgaria, Budi expressed optimism that the bilateral talks would speed up financial progress for each nations.

“Each nations are dedicated to constantly strengthening cooperation in commerce and funding. We hope at present’s assembly will drive this progress,” Budi in his assertion.

Throughout the assembly, Minister Budi requested Poulev to assist the implementation of the Indonesia-European Union Complete Financial Partnership Settlement (IEU-CEPA), which officers intention to place into drive by early 2027.

Responding to the initiative, Poulev welcomed the enlargement of financial ties and reaffirmed Bulgaria’s assist for the IEU-CEPA framework.

“As a rustic positioned within the jap a part of the European Union, we are able to function a gateway for Indonesian corporations to penetrate the EU market, which has a inhabitants of 450 million,” Poulev stated.

Poulev emphasised important untapped potential for bilateral industrial progress, notably throughout the agriculture, automotive parts and halal-certified meat sectors.

To keep up momentum, he proposed reactivating the Indonesia-Bulgaria Joint Fee for Financial Cooperation (JEC) within the first half of 2027.

Commerce between the 2 nations reached US$230.8 million in 2025, producing a US$64.2 million commerce surplus for Indonesia.

Indonesian exports to Bulgaria totaled US$147.4 million, with main commodities together with nickel ores, unwrought aluminum, metal merchandise, and margarine.

In the meantime, imports from Bulgaria stood at US$83.1 million, led by wheat, medical devices, spices, unmanufactured tobacco, and protection gear.
