
As a consequence of its wartime previous, Japan adopted a pacifist Structure that limits its navy to self-defence. Now Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is asking for ‘superior discussions’ on revising the Structure, organising a panel tasked with reviewing the nation’s safety and defence insurance policies as regional tensions escalate.
