Presidential Commission inspects Norochcholai Power Plant

The Presidential Fee of Inquiry investigating alleged irregularities in coal imports and electrical energy technology visited the Lakvijaya Energy Plant in Norochcholai on June 14, 2026.

The delegation included the Secretary to the Fee, D. V. Bandulasena, together with different investigating officers.

Through the go to, the officers carried out an on-site inspection of your entire coal dealing with and energy technology course of, from the unloading of coal shipments to the manufacturing of electrical energy.

The group carefully examined coal unloading operations, storage services, random sampling procedures, laboratory testing of coal samples, and actions on the plant’s major management room.

The Fee was appointed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to find out whether or not any irregularities or illegal actions had taken place in reference to coal imports and electrical energy technology carried out by the state-owned Lanka Coal Firm (Pvt) Ltd or its successor establishments.

The investigation covers the interval from the start of coal-based energy technology in Sri Lanka as much as April 16, 2026.
