President Anura Kumara Dissanayake took steps yesterday (June 22) to ascertain a Salaries and Pensions Fee, chaired by retired Ministry Secretary Mr Asoka Peiris, with the first goal of offering options to present points concerning the salaries and pensions of public sector staff and pensioners. Accordingly, the President has acted to ascertain this fee through Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2494/05, dated twenty second June 2026.

The Fee is tasked with presenting suggestions to supply sustainable options to points concerning the salaries and pensions of public sector staff and pensioners, making an allowance for the wage anomalies which have persevered for a few years and the challenges confronted in public monetary administration, in an effort to handle wage and pension insurance policies in a sustainable method.

7. Haththasinge Thilakawardhana
8. Brigadier Piyal Jude Fernando (Retd.)
9. Ahamed Lebbe Mohamed Mukthar
10. Senerath Tissa Bandara Ratnayake
11. Abeysinghe Weerakoon Lal Chandra Weerakoon
12. Gajadeera Arachchi Piyal Pathmanatha
13. Jayaweera Pathirana
14. Koswinnage Sarath Lal Perera

Moreover, in accordance with the Cupboard choice No. 26/0622/816/018-1 dated sixth April 2026, the Fee can be tasked with presenting applicable proposals and suggestions for a structural reform of the whole public service, making an allowance for the Supreme Court docket judgment dated twenty fifth February 2026 concerning Basic Rights petition No. SC/FR 23/2014.

In presenting the aforementioned proposals, the Fee has additionally been mandated to deal with new technological tendencies and international developments, forecast future modifications, and advocate methods to construct a technologically empowered, citizen-centric, moral, and accountable public service that’s match for the long run and aligned with evolving international technological transformations.
