Nahr Ibrahim, l’vintage fleuve Adonis, descend du Mont-Liban vers la Méditerranée en traversant l’une des vallées les plus chargées de mémoire du pays. Selon la légende, le sang d’Adonis — jeune dieu blessé par un sanglier — aurait teinté ses eaux en rouge chaque année. Derrière ce mythe se cachent des rites millénaires : les Adonies de Byblos, les lamentations des femmes, la prostitution sacrée au sanctuaire d’Afqa — et des coutumes de fertilité qui résonnent encore aujourd’hui dans les foyers libanais, du blé de Sainte-Barbe aux pousses vertes de Noël.
Un mythe phénicien devenu légende méditerranéenne. Une mémoire que le Liban porte encore sans toujours le savoir.
